Workers’ Compensation Law Firm
If
you have been injured at work (or if a loved one has died as a result of
a work incident), contact The Law Offices of Mark Dean. We take
pride in protecting the rights of injured workers against powerful
companies and their insurance carriers. Getting hurt in a work related
injury is a traumatic experience. We have the experience to get you what
you deserve: Timely compensation and medical care. You are
entitled to medical care provided by the employer (and its insurance
carrier), temporary benefits while you are off work, and permanent benefits
(a lump sum) due to the incident.
As a Missouri and Illinois Workers Compensation Law Firm we
aggressively work on your behalf to seek damages for all types of
factory, construction, worksite, industrial and heavy equipment
accidents. Some of the common injuries we see in our Workers
Compensation Practice are the following:
- Knee, Shoulder, Back and Neck Injuries
- Stress Disorders
- Arthroscopy
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, CTS
- Hearing and Sight Loss
- Muscle Tears
- Repetitive Stress Disorders
- Scars, Burns, Cuts, Bruises
- Brain Injury
- Heart Attack
Filing a workers compensation claim is similar to filing an insurance
claim and be assured ‒ an insurance company interested in saving every
dime will be representing your employer or former employer.
Managing attorney Mark Dean handled the defense of these claims when he
worked in-house with an insurance company. His inside knowledge is
essential in fighting the insurance company and securing the maximum
benefits you are entitled to.
What to do following an injury at work
If you are injured at work:
- Notify your employer
immediately. There are certain requirements under Missouri and
Illinois law that require you to notify your employer in a timely
manner. You also need to speak with an attorney experienced in
handling workers compensation cases, such as Managing Attorney Mark
Dean, to ensure your claim (which is different from your reporting
of the incident to your employer) is filed timely.
- Don’t talk to an insurance company (who will represent the employer) if you have not spoken
with an experienced personal attorney first. The insurance company
has a job to do ‒ represent the interests of the employer ‒ not
help you. So, speak with an experienced workers compensation
attorney, such as Managing Attorney Mark Dean as soon as possible
after the incident.
- Focus on your injuries and
getting the medical care and attention that you and your family
need. Now is not the time to be stoic or ignore any pain or injuries
that you may be experiencing. Don’t be a "tough-guy" or "tough-gal" ‒ get help. You
should ask, in writing if possible, your employer to provide you
medical care immediately.
- Don’t seek independent medical
care from your own health care provider until your attorney tells
you otherwise. If you have been sent to a doctor by your employer, you should abide by that doctor's instructions until your attorney tells you otherwise.
If you or a family member has been
injured (or died) in a workplace incident, call us at (314) 872-2120 for a free consultation.
